Body Image: Journal Articles Overview

[ send me this term paper ]
4 pages in length. Both research articles - [1] Davidson et al's (2006) "Adolescent Body Image and Psychosocial Functioning" and [2] McCabe et al's (2003) "Sociocultural Influences on Body Image and Body Changes Among Adolescent Boys and Girls" from The Journal of Social Psychology focus their respective studies upon how body image impacts the manner by which teens perceive themselves and how they believe they are perceived by their others in their age group. Each article submitted questionnaires to a random sampling of the target adolescent group in order to generate response to the following hypotheses: [1] To what extent poor body image influences peer interaction with adolescent boys and girls, and [2] the extent to which sociocultural influences forecast how/why adolescent boys and girls alter their bodies (i.e. lose weight) in order to be accepted. No additional sources cited.
