A 4 page paper discussing the work of Robert
Adam (1728-1792), the famous Scottish architect and interior designer. The son of a Scottish
architect, Robert Adam was able to combine arrogance, social climbing and artistic elegance to
become one of Britain's most sought-after architects and interior designers of his day. His
work fell out of popular favor by 1780, but he continued working in public structures and
turned extensively to furniture design. That design is still with us, and continues to enjoy
periodic rejuvenation and rediscovery. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
