This 5 page report discusses the
various aspects of how both writers show the universal issues of
injustice that humanity perpetuates against itself in pursuit of
capitalism and wealth. Davis says to her readers: “Stop a moment.
I am going to be honest. This is what I want you to do. I want
you to hide your disgust, take no heed to your clean clothes, and
come right down with me, - here, into the thickest of the fog and
mud and foul effluvia. I want you to hear this story.” Odets
repeatedly tells the audience watching “Waiting for Lefty” that
the “little guy” can be and often is the central character in a
tragic situation. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
