A 5 page paper giving an account of the activities resulting in completion of the aggregate survey tool and assessment. The effort began on July 18, 2002, ending on August 1. The purpose of these activities was to identify and assess an aggregate of individuals over the age of 65 who also have heart disease, investing at least sixteen clinical hours in the effort. The paper discusses the activities, then compares aggregate-based assessment to working with individuals and their families. It concludes that the aggregate approach avoids the complexity of individuals as larger "systems," allowing the nurse to focus first on one small component and then apply the findings to the "system" of the individual.
