9 pages in length. Being deprived of a sound education, the opportunity to earn a decent wage and living under constant socioeconomic margins provides the basis upon which certain populations have a much greater incidence of drug and alcohol abuse. Understanding the principal factors that underlie these realities is best appreciated through Marx's conflict theory, a concept that dictates one's place upon the socioeconomic latter by the political and economic structure of the specific society in which they live.
