Public interest incorporates a number of aspects with regard to decision-making, not the least of which includes convenience, concern and wellbeing. Public best interest, on the other hand, is the act of making decisions based solely upon what is provides the public with the best of all options while at the same time removing the potential for leaders' to overrule the right decision based upon their own self-interests. In essence, the first definition merely acknowledges how the public is entitled to be considered within the realm of decision-making outcome, while the second one speaks to the way in which the public's welfare and impact must be taken into account from a clear perspective of social responsibility.
