This 5 page report
discusses how Rene Descartes and Socrates viewed the acquisition
of knowledge and what knowledge actually is. The concept of
knowledge, what it is, what it means, and how it is gained, has
been debated for literally centuries. Descartes’ “The
Meditations” has come to generally be viewed as the most
important of all of Descartes’ works. In it, he best presents his
metaphysical and epistemological premises in their entirety and
considers the problems of the sources and nature of knowledge.
Socrates’ method of argument, throughout all of Plato’s writings,
is a philosophical technique for discovering knowledge through
question and answer. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
