A 5 page paper assessing the policy under which a local judge faces a hearing resulting from complaints that he has not acted outside of the courtroom in ways consistent with expectations of judges. The California Commission on Judicial Performance announced in 2002 that it will conduct a hearing on the conduct of San Francisco Judge D. Ronald Hyde. Judge Hyde has been accused of several acts of misconduct, all of which are blatantly trivial. The purpose here is to review and assess the policy that dictates that Judge Hyde be subjected to a formal hearing that potentially could end his career. The paper suggests altering the policy so that there is greater accountability on all sides. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
