This 5 page paper provides an overview of the book Fortunate Son, the autobiography of Lewis Puller, Jr., disabled Vietnam veteran and son of World War II hero Chesty Puller. This book relates Puller’s attempts to live up to the legacy of his father and his own losses as a result of his participation in the Vietnam War. This book is especially poignant in light of Puller’s suicide in 1994, and claims that Puller suffered the ravages of post-traumatic stress disorder. No additional sources cited.
