A 5 page paper discussing the use of language and
purpose in the scene 5 soliloquy of the ghost of Hamlet's father. Shakespeare leaves no
doubt as to the ghost's and Hamlet's perception of the circumstances surrounding the
king's death. The king asks for and receives a commitment from Hamlet to avenge the
king's death in a manner that will be the most horrifying to those responsible, placing no
limitations on Hamlet's actions against his uncle. He wants his wife to suffer longer,
however, and he gives Hamlet reprieve from the sin of murdering his own mother. No
other sources.
