The major part of this paper addresses the topic of becoming an IT consultant, including an overview of becoming an IT consultant, advantages and disadvantages of becoming an independent consultant, finding potential clients, including Web sites that are useful, an explanation of the RFP (Request for Proposal) with advice on completing the proposal. And example is provided. Other skills needed by the IT consultant are reported. The last section discusses managing the acquisition of IT systems from the perspective of the agency. This paper is the same as Becoming An IT Consultant but an additional section on the phases of IT acquisition and the advantages of hiring a consultant to aid in this process.
