5 pages in length. The high cost of drugs precludes many people from obtaining the medications they need in order to remain healthy. Examining the ethical nature of drug companies dispensing free samples to physicians by way of Immanual Kant's philosophy, one finds that mankind is under both moral and ethical obligations within the scope of existence. In his book entitled Foundations of the Metaphysics of Morals, Kant (1948) is instrumental in stating that universal law of good can only exist if what is right for one person is also extended to the next. If a certain action is viewed as being right for one individual then it must be right for all others to do the same, as well. In effect, breaking one's moral commitment is to abandon one's sense of ethical relativism, a concept that examines the wide and varying societal rules binding one to one's cultural existence.
