J.M.W. Turner as the Epitome of Romantic Art

[ send me this term paper ]
This 10 page report discusses the work of the 19th century British painter J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851) and the fact that his work serves as a consummate example of what Romanticism in art was and is. Instead of simply recording what he saw before him, Turner was able to translate the scenes he painted into light-filled expressions of his own romantic feelings. In other words, he expressed what is the most fundamental aspect of Romanticism -- showing the sublime in what might be thought of as ordinary. One critic of this age has referred to Turner’s work as “music in paint.” Bibliography lists 6 sources.
