This 5 page
report discusses a lesson plan for a third grade inclusion class
learning the story of a Chinese legend about panda bears. The
most basic premise behind the establishment of “inclusion”
classes is to assure that students in class, regardless of their
mental or communication capabilities are able to learn the most
basic concepts that are being presented in a lesson. Using the
example of the story “Once There Were No Pandas” (a brief story
telling the Chinese legend of how pandas and people cared for one
another), the lesson plan offers a number of options that are
applicable for differing levels of student comprehension.
