This 20 page report discusses the
online implementation and effectiveness of psychometrics and in
terms of individual achievement and aptitude tests. For many
researchers, the idea of the relatively sterile environment of
“cyberspace” presents a situation in which true measures cannot
be accurately gathered since they take place outside the physical
reality and interaction that takes place between the person
administering the test and the subject. Others believe that
online psychometric testing offers the most accurate measures and
offers the tester the best of all testing worlds. For example,
demand-based and immediate research contributes to an
understanding of short-term, variable factors that influence
actions. Likewise, such research can “capture” information about
an individual who has not prepared or “practiced” for the test.
In general, achievement and aptitude testing on the Internet
appears to be offering new opportunities for understanding and
