A 5 page overview of the beliefs of Samuel R. Wells (a prominent psychologist of the nineteenth century) as purported in "The Temperaments" an article first published in 1873. Outlines Wells belief that a person's character and personality are shaped by certain biological factors and that these characteristics are reflected in a person's facial features. Wells believed temperament, in particular, to be clearly associated with biological parameters which were revealed in a person's facial characteristics. While his beliefs have, of course, been disproven; Wells" "The Temperaments" offers a captivating historical background in one application of psychological theory blended with physiology. No additional sources are listed.
