A 6 page discussion of the presentation of the races made in these two classic books of black literature. Asserts that while a number of black writers have expressed their views on the frictions between blacks and whites and indeed the frictions between any groups of individuals who differ from one another is some specific way, few have done so in such a riveting manner as these authors. Emphasizes that although their are misrepresentations of the races in both of these works, these misrepresentations in themselves lie in the ongoing racial dichotomy which exists in the world.
