11 pages. Charter schools are
publicly funded schools run by private individuals in order to
give students a more complete and rounded education. The premise
of a charter school is to lower the student to teacher ratio from
what the overcrowded public schools currently have, thus giving
children a chance at a more personalized and hopefully more
advantageous education. While this premise is sound in theory,
there are both advantages and disadvantages to the system. This
research paper presents an indepth look at both sides of the
charter school controversy. The advantages as well as the
disadvantages, and this allows the reader to make his or her own
decision as to whether charter schools are living up to what they
were intended to be. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
