A 5 page overview of the concept of holism as it applies to nursing. This paper contends that the concept of holism is integrally linked with the goals and objectives of nursing. Holism, after all, embodies the concept of healing. Holism embodies another concept as well, however, that is the concept of caring. It is a concept which is intimately entwined with energy flows, touch, and complimentary or alternative therapies but it is also a concept which can be compared with such prominent nursing theories as Hildegard Peplau's Theory of Interpersonal Relations.
