5 pages in length. As 1998 marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as proclaimed by the General Assembly of the United Nations, there is significant question as to whether or not the written manifesto addresses the issue of human dignity as well as it was meant to do. Comparing the ethical significance of such with Veritatis Splendor, Judaism and Confucius, one can easily conclude that there are considerable alterations in the overall application of its importance. The writer discusses how the Declaration, while offering great promise at its conception and even delivering some of what was pledged, has failed quite miserably in recognizing the ethical significance of human dignity throughout the world when compared with Judaism, Confucius and Veritatis Splendor. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
