discusses the origins and outcomes of the Persian Gulf conflict.
This report also considers the context of what historians and
social theorists call a “just war” or the “just war doctrine” and
how it was viewed in terms of modern understanding of what is and
is not just war. It can be argued that it was a battle over
natural resources (oil) and it can be argued that it was an
essential action taken to protect a small nation from an
aggressor. The question of whether or not the Gulf War was a
just war has to be asked because it is emblematic of the ways in
which modern humanity views its rights and obligations in the
