A 5 page comparison of child rearing practices. While the traditional Israel Kibbutz emphasized the importance of communal child rearing, in the modern kibbutz the Children’s House no longer exists. Children now live with their families and, consequently, their lives have evolved to center around the family rather than the community. It is a change which is related both to the experiences of the parents themselves as children in the old traditional children’s houses and to recent research findings that communal child rearing practices actually have a considerable propensity for resulting in adverse rather than positive impacts to the children it was designed to aid. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
