A 10 page paper discussing the growing use of qualitative research methods in clinical settings, focusing on the value of the interview as a data collection tool. Qualitative research still is not accepted as valid by all the medical community, but the fact remains that valid, reliable qualitative research can give insights that cannot be achieved through quantitative approaches. The interview is a valuable qualitative data collection tool, but it must be used with care. There are many ways that bias can be introduced when using that tool, and both designers and interviewers need to ensure that they strive to keep that bias at bay. Bibliography lists 15 sources.
