A 5 page research paper that examines the characters of 'Sula' and 'Nel' as representations of 'good' and 'evil' in this work by Toni Morrison. Sula and her friend Nel, form the focal point for this narrative and it is around this duo that other relationships revolve. Sula comes to represent evil and social alienation. Nel, on the other hand, becomes a perfect example of social propriety. However, the writer argues that Morrison's point is that Sula and Nel's relationship demonstrates the very Eastern idea that good and evil are but two sides of the same coin.
