An 8 page discussion of the events leading up to and following the 1989 Cuban economic crisis and the associated U.S. role in this crisis. Emphasizes that the U.S. reaction to the Cuban economic crisis, consisting mostly of economic sanctions, has ranged from apathy to outright attack. While this reaction could be expected given our turbulent interaction with the country since the cold war, it is a reaction which should have been tempered at least to some degree in recognition of the extreme hardship being faced by many of Cuba's most vulnerable citizens. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
