The extent to which the Act serves to intercept terrorist activity, protect national freedom & illustrate the country's continued strength as a superpower is both grand and far-reaching; that it was designed to apply a comprehensive safeguard from both a national and international perspective speaks to the Act's tremendous scope. However, as many good points as can be attributed to the Act, there are just as many questionable ones – arbitrary monitoring, surveillance and compromised personal privacy and liberties - that continue to fuel debate.
