This 14 page report discusses the ways in which the urban world
or the place where a significant amount of human beings’ work
takes place has also been transformed by technology and the
advancement of telecommunications systems. Three interrelated
macro-processes, globalization, informationalization, and
generalized urban spread are thoroughly reconstructing the social
and spatial structure of societies everywhere in the world.
Because conventional urban policies have become inadequate to
deal with the current crises of cities, city regions can and must
take on new roles and adopt new strategies in order to strengthen
a “dynamic and creative relationship between the local and the
global. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
