This 5 page
report discusses the ideas of 19th century philosopher, John
Stuart Mill, who was certain that the highest normative principle
is that, “actions are right in proportion as they tend to promote
happiness; wrong as they tend to produce the reverse of
happiness.” This is his fundamental principle of utility.
However, it does not address the issue that there is a very real
distinction between people and that one’s happiness is not more
valid than that of another. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
