The Indian Reorganization Act of 1934 was an Act to conserve and develop Indian lands and resources; to extend to Indians the right to form business and other organization; to establish a credit system for Indians; to grant certain rights of home rule to Indians; to provide for vocational education for Indians; and for other purposes. At the time of its creation, it was believed that this Act would serve to give back to the Indians the kind of control that was taken from them when the United States participated in an act of mass genocide.
