This 5 page report discusses
the fact that there were a number of reasons that Shakespeare’s
Othello killed his wife. Jealousy, idealism, revenge, control
and stupidity all serve as just part of the reason Othello acted
so blindly. The reasons that have been suggested as the basis for
Othello’s murder of Desdemona all exist but are only singular
characteristics of the larger circumstances that drove him over
the proverbial “edge.” In fact, Desdemona’s respectful and
submissive demeanor towards Othello actually contributes to her
death. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
